Hundreds of texts and exercises, thousands of questions

Each course presents key Legal English terminology in short online reading and listening passages of the type often encountered by lawyers. The reading texts include contracts, statutes, corporate documents, legal correspondence and much more. The listening passages give you a unique opportunity to train by listening to negotiations, lawyer-client conferences, court proceedings and other recordings in a law context. The key vocabulary in each passage is linked to a glossary with a definition of each term and to a recording of the word as used in a sentence. The reading and listening passages are followed by exercises (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, true-false, matching, etc.) which reinforce the vocabulary taught in the passage. Each course consists of 15 - 20 units and hundreds of exercises, providing several thousand questions in all.

TransLegal's online courses are used by bar associations, universities and law firms around the world and are even approved for credits by, among others, the Paris Bar Association, as part of the continuing legal education program for their members.

Choose between the basic and professional versions

Each TransLegal online course is available in a basic version and a professional version. The basic version of the course gives you full access to the entire online course, but without a private lawyer-linguist tutor to train writing and speaking skills. The professional version of the course includes, in addition to the online course, 30 minutes of private instruction each week for the duration of the course (15 or 20 weeks) by a TransLegal lawyer-linguist instructor who is assigned as your personal tutor. This private training is conducted by telephone 15 minutes each week, scheduled at times convenient for you, to train speaking and by email correspondence each week with specific writing exercises through which you train legal drafting skills.
